Successful treatment kidney cancer in solitary right kidney

Patient with a history of renal cell carcinoma in the left kidney S/P nephrectomy (removal of the kidney). CT done in September 2009 now shows a new tumor in his remaining right kidney.
Radiofrequency ablation was offered as an alternative and performed on the tumor that same month. CT shows the needle piercing the tumor.
Post ablation CT now shows diffuse hypodensity of the nodule.
Follow up CT in April 2012 (2 and a half years later) shows no evidence of active tumor. Kidney function is still intact. Patient is still doing well and scheduled for follow-up in a year.

Successful treatment lung metastases from breast cancer with RF Ablation

Patient with stage 4 breast cancer underwent chemotherapy for multiple lung nodules which were considered metastatic lesions from her breast cancer. CT done in August 2007 showed a persistent nodule in the right lung which continued to grow despite chemotherapy. Nodule was biopsied and confirmed to be from the original breast cancer and not a separate new primary malignancy.

Radiofrequency ablation shows needle in the nodule.

Chest xray taken in July 2012 ( 5 years later ) shows no evidence of recurrence.
